ELEPHANT REFLECTIONS

The Linyanti River is the border between Namibia’s Caprivi Strip and the Linyanti swamps of Northern Botswana. Here, huge numbers of elephants travel through the area in search of food and water in the drier winter months. In unfamiliar terrain elephants are often somewhat sceptical of us humans and this image depicts this perfectly. This large adult bull still has a haze of dust over his rump as he wades across the river spraying water, standing tall and letting us know to beware his size and stature.

This image has been hand processed on warm tone fibre based paper, fixed, hypo-cleared, washed, selenium toned and washed again to the requirements of ANSI archival standards, by Dennis da Silva, one of the most respected craftsman in his field in South Africa.
