ELEPHANT CALF

At Abu Camp in the Okavango Delta in Botswana there is a herd of trained African elephants. This calf is the youngest of the herd, his name is Pula, meaning rain in the local Setswana language. This image of Pula among the grasses captures some of the intrigue and adventure that young animals show.

This image has been hand processed on warm tone fibre based paper, fixed, hypo-cleared, washed, selenium toned and washed again to the requirements of ANSI archival standards, by Dennis da Silva, one of the most respected craftsman in his field in South Africa.
