DUPLICATE HIPPOPOTAMUS
This image was taken in the Okavango Delta, Botswana where Hippos are integral to maintaining the open waterways. Usually during the day they stay in deep water, moving in the night along the channels to find grazing areas as close to the water as possible. As such large herbivores they often must travel far to find enough to forage and as they go they deposit nutrients back into the water benefiting other species in the food chain.
This image has been hand processed on warm tone fibre based paper, fixed, hypo-cleared, washed, selenium toned and washed again to the requirements of ANSI archival standards, by Dennis da Silva, one of the most respected craftsman in his field in South Africa.
