AFRICAN SKIMMER

On the Chobe River in Northern Botswana, African Skimmers fly with just their lower mandible cutting the silky flatness of the surface as they search for small fish and shrimp. Their silhouettes as they streak across the water show their grace and sheer flying ability.

This image has been hand processed on warm tone fibre based paper, fixed, hypo-cleared, washed, selenium toned and washed again to the requirements of ANSI archival standards, by Dennis da Silva, one of the most respected craftsman in his field in South Africa.
