MAKGADIKGADI REFLECTION

The Makgadikgadi Pans in central Botswana are enormous salt lakes that are often dry for most of the year. I chanced upon the transformation from flaky salt encrusted acres to this vast area covered by a thin layer of water from heavy rains the previous evening. The reflections of the rapidly moving skies seemed to amplify the incredible expanse.

This image has been hand processed on warm tone fibre based paper, fixed, hypo-cleared, washed, selenium toned and washed again to the requirements of ANSI archival standards, by Dennis da Silva, one of the most respected craftsman in his field in South Africa.
