HIPPOPOTAMUS SPRAY

In the heart of the Okavango Delta, Northern Botswana is a small camp named Jacana, and although the Delta is a seasonally flooded area there are always some deep pools or permanent channels of water left nearby. Here I found a pod of hippos and waited until one rose to clear the water from his nostrils before returning to his snorting and cavorting.

This image has been hand processed on warm tone fibre based paper, fixed, hypo-cleared, washed, selenium toned and washed again to the requirements of ANSI archival standards, by Dennis da Silva, one of the most respected craftsman in his field in South Africa.
